Physio project perfectly positions staff

Final year Master of Physiotherapy students teamed up with Flinders’ Work, Health and Safety (WHS) unit recently to educate staff about correct workstation set-up, also producing a video resource for all staff.

Supervised by Senior WHS Advisors Barbara Kupke and Karen Hayden, students Luke Mitchell, Stephanie Edwards, Tahlia Cousins and Heyson Hinge assisted staff in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences with ideal workstation set-up and improved awareness of the resources provided by the WHS office.

Two project deliverables were produced – a drop-in session led by students for staff to learn about improving their workstation set-up, and a short educational video that reinforced the key messages delivered in the information session.

The educational video is available for all staff to view here.

This project was part of the students’ final year Health Promotion and Leadership in Physiotherapy topic.

Topic Coordinator Dr Lucy Lewis designed the assessment to expose students to project management, leadership, education and advocacy in health promotion collaborative practice.

The topic will run again in early 2020 and staff are asked to please contact Dr Lewis with any ideas, or to get involved in a partnership with physiotherapy students.
