All in a day’s work and study for top Tiger

Medicine student, Tigers captain Chris Curran, has received the accolade of captain of The Advertiser/SANFL Team of the Year, in recognition of his brilliant season culminating in Glenelg’s first premiership win in 33 years.

Mr Curran played all 18 minor round games to lead Glenelg to its 2019 SANFL Statewide Super League Grand Final win against the Magpies on Sunday 22 September, by 28 points.

The multi-talented athlete is in the second year of his Doctor of Medicine. He is also a practising physiotherapist.

The high-achiever was inspired to pursue medicine through his work as a physiotherapist, and football has always been part of his regular routine.

“Combining them was just about building habits,” Mr Curran explains when quizzed on his workload and motivation. “Once something is habit, it’s easy.”

Chris Curran’s dual SANFL achievements this month come off the back of fellow Flinders student, Glenelg team mate Luke Partington’s, Magarey Medal win earlier in September.
