Powering sports teaching

A new book on physical education teaching is the first in-depth, practice-focused publication to explain ‘spectrum theory’ and its application in coaching, building on a pioneering 1966 book that continues to be revised today.

Edited by Associate Professor Shane Pill and colleagues, The Spectrum of Teaching Styles in Physical Education draws on expertise from Australia, Europe and North America.

Recently published by Routledge, a launch event has been scheduled for 30 April in Adelaide which will include professional development on the spectrum of teaching styles.

The spectrum of teaching styles is one of the enduring concepts of physical education and applicable to any area of teaching. It was first explored in the 1966 seminal book by Muska Mosston, Teaching Physical Education, available today in its sixth edition.
