Wave of creative releases

Creativity is surging among the University’s writers, with many exciting contributions in recent weeks including new books published and podcasts released.

New books

Making getting published look easy, several Flinders University authors have released new books for the cooler nights at home. Recently published fiction includes:

Songs for Dark Seasons by Dr Lisa Bennett (writing as Lisa L. Hannett)

Reading like a country music album played in the darkest corners of the imagination, this collection of stories takes readers back to the lonesome dream counties introduced in the World Fantasy Award-nominated collection, Bluegrass Symphony.

Watchlist by Dr Alex Vickery-Howe

Two young environmentalists who change the world forever.

Her Perilous Mansion by Dr Sean Williams

A middle-grade fantasy novel that traps two desperate children in a house that might be haunted.

Thrill Me

A short story anthology featuring work by Dr Amy Matthews, Dr Alex Vickery-Howe and Dr Sean Williams, as well as short stories by Flinders Research Associate Dr Gay Lynch, and creative writing alumni including Dr Lauren Butterworth and Riana Kinlough, alongside some of Australia’s most awarded short story authors.

Dr Williams also published an essay, ‘Making Collaboration Work for You’ in Writers of the Future Vol. 36 from Galaxy Press.

Podcasts for emerging writers

Several podcasts were also released, which are available to listen on the creative team’s Stitcher page. This series was developed by authors in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences to support new writers through lively discussions on a variety of topics.
