Study to guide tourism’s role in recovery

Tourism and geography academics are launching a new national survey today on the future of tourism in Australia in a post-COVID-19 world.

The survey can be accessed here.

Led by Dr Gareth Butler, Dr Gerti Szili and Dr Cecile Cutler, the project aims to build essential capacity that will inform and assist stakeholders in the development of a post-COVID-19 tourism-focused economic recovery strategy. It will examine the intentions of Australians regarding future travel plans and critically analyse behavioural shifts in activity, accommodation, and transport preferences.

A key outcome of the Contextualising the Future Tourism Geographies of Australians in a Post-COVID-19 Landscape: Identifying Opportunities for Economic Recovery study will be identifying the concerns and impediments that frame the plans of Australians intending to travel as restrictions ease.
