Wear the colours of support this Friday

This Friday 28 August is Wear it Purple Day to show LGBTIQ+ young people that we care. Staff are invited to don purple attire, accessories or even a simple ribbon to share their support for diversity and for safe, empowering and inclusive environments for young people.

The University’s Ally Network will also be decorating the jacaranda tree by the lake with purple ribbons, which was planted at Bedford Park campus in 2017 to honour Flinders’ queer community.

This year Wear it Purple Day is celebrating 10 years. The theme for 2020 is: We are the change, representing the importance of encouragement, empowerment and effective change to benefit LGBTQ+ people and all minority groups.
