New tech boosts research data management

Flinders University’s Library and Digital Research Services are working together to deliver Research Data Management as a Service project. This project aims to:

  • Increase discoverability and accessibility of Flinders research data assets associated with Flinders’ world-class research
  • Improve the management of research data assets associated with Flinders research
  • Capture institutional value from Flinders research data assets
  • Review the current research data management policy framework at Flinders with advice and recommendations for change.

After a tender process, Figshare for Institutions by Digital Science has been selected as the successful solution. This is a mature research data management repository solution currently being used by The University of Adelaide, Monash University and other Australian universities, as well as many international institutions. More information about the system is available online at https://knowledge.figshare.com/institutions

Following a contract signing in December 2020, Digital Research Services, Library and Digital Science are working together to implement Figshare for Institutions at Flinders. Implementation, done in partnership with a pilot group of Flinders researchers, will continue through to April 2021.
