Adapting to new fitness trends for 2021

In 2021, the team at Flinders One Sport and Fitness believes the promise of a better year leads us all to realise our potential by improving our health through fitness, and reap the physical and psychological benefits this brings.

Fitness trends have changed through the past year and we’ve noticed that the Top 8 new trends include On-line fitness, HIIT and Exercise is Medicine. We want to ensure you are receiving the best there is, so we have responded with new offerings.

• On-line: For members, we have introduced a free 6-week cardio or weights program via the Team Buildr app with instruction via video and progression during the program to help you along your fitness path.

• HIIT classes: 30-minute high intensity interval training session are being offered across the timetable. To help expand the appeal and success of these classes, you will now find a newly acquired curved runner and a standing ski-erg utilised in some sessions.

• Exercise is Medicine: It is well known that exercise can help ward off chronic conditions from diabetes, to osteoporosis, lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of heart attack, lower cholesterol, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve cognitive function and self esteem. However if you already have some of these conditions, we have an Exercise Physiologist on board who can work with you to stop the advance of these conditions, and in some cases reverse it. We all want to be working at optimal capacity and an Exercise Physiologist is the best person to help with this.

• Introductory Classes: Our group fitness timetable has some introductory classes, so if you have always thought about giving it a try, or wanted to broaden your scope, pick these. You will get a little more attention, some extra guidance, and you will be with others who are also giving it a try.

The team at Flinders University One Sport and Fitness is excited to have the year underway, and looks forward to welcoming new members and along with loyal returning members – while at all times we will continue to carefully observe the necessary COVID-19 requirements, to keep everyone safe.
