Flinders leads the state in blood donations

After 12 weeks of donations, Flinders University is leading the SA Tertiary Blood Challenge, run by Australian Red Cross Lifeblood.

So far a total of 1,459 donations have been made in SA, which equates to 4,377 lives saved. From this total, Red Cross Australia has been able to obtain 42% Blood Donations, 56% Plasma Donations and 2% Platelets Donations.

Flinders University has recorded 482 donations, placing us ahead of The University of Adelaide (435), UniSA (345) and TAFE SA (112).

Out of 128 new donors who have donated during this year’s challenge, Flinders University is currently in second place with 50 new donors.

This strong effort places Flinders in 12th position nationally – but there’s still time to improve, as the Tertiary Blood Challenge will continue until  31 May. If you want to join up and donate to be a part of the challenge, sign up online. Everything you need to join the challenge and book a donation can be found on the challenge webpage.
