Latest rankings show solid performance

Flinders has consolidated its performance in an annual global ranking and a key student survey.

The 2021 ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities) sees Flinders ranked in the 401-500 band, the same grouping as the past four years. Internal analysis indicates we have improved by two places from 422 to 420 since last year.

The ARWU measures six indicators to ranking the world’s top 1000 universities: Publications (responsible for 20% of the score), Nature and Science (20%), Highly cited researchers (20%), Staff Awards (20%), Alumni Awards (10%) and Per Capita Performance (10%). Flinders improved slightly in the Publications and Per Capita Performance categories.

Fellow Innovative Research Universities (IRU) members also posted improvements, as did the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia.

Meanwhile, the annual Good Universities Guide for 2022 sees Flinders retaining several #1 in SA positions, including undergraduate learner engagement, learning resources, skills development, and overall experience, plus highest starting salary. We’re also #1 in SA for post graduate full-time employment.

There are some notable performances in specific fields of undergraduate study, including 5- star Best in Australia rankings in Agriculture & Environmental Studies for learning resources and in Medicine for learning resources and student support.
