Flinders Mates program calls for volunteers

Flinders Mates, a student-led program that connects Australian and International students, is preparing to launch through the Oasis Student Wellbeing Centre. This supportive network of student peers aims to generate conversations about life, friendships and sharing the richness of diverse cultures.

Flinders Mates is a program that was planned to be launched several years ago, but COVID-19 disruptions saw it delayed – and now the Oasis team is looking for both Australian and domestic student volunteers to help facilitate the Flinders Mates conversation groups.

For students who are interested in applying to be part of the Flinders Mates program, it will be important for them to have clear communication skills, who are inclusive and capable of creating a welcoming environment – but it will also be very helpful for students wanting to build their group communication skills.

Participating student volunteers will be able to obtain Flinders Horizon Award points, training opportunities, professional development opportunities and group facilitation skill development.

Further information and registration for students to join the program can be done online here.
