Deck the halls with campus updates

The Flinders footbridge will undergo a summer clean this week, while other works include a temporary closure of the Anchor Court bike storage and testing of the Emergency Warning and Intercommunications System.

Footbridge closure

There will be high-pressure cleaning (with water only) on the footbridge between the main campus and Sturt on Thursday 16 December and, if needed, on Friday 17 December.

The footbridge will be closed during these works.

Please take an alternative route on these days and note that parts of the trails directly underneath the footbridge will also be affected. There will be signage in the gully area to alert users to the works overhead.

Testing of Emergency Warning and Intercommunication System (EWIS) master panels

There will be brief testing of the University’s two master EWIS panels this Wednesday at 10am. This will ensure that the alarm sequence and broadcast announcements across buildings are operating correctly.

At this time, you will hear a message over the PA system to advise that the test will soon begin, followed by the ‘alert’ tone for 5-10 seconds and then the ‘evacuation’ tone for 5-10 seconds. There will then be a final announcement to advise that testing in that area is complete. This process will happen twice – once from the panel in Registry and the other from the panel in the Data Centre.

Please do not take any action upon hearing the announcements and alerts.

SAPOL and the MFS have been advised that this testing is taking place.

Temporary closure of Anchor Court bike storage and internal stairwell in Physical Sciences

Due to works on the College front for Science and Engineering, the bike storage in Anchor Court is temporarily closed. Please use the facility at Registry Road or visit the website for alternative options.

The internal stairwell between level 0 and level 1 in Physical Sciences is also closed during these works so please use the nearby external stairs and follow any signage in place.

Crane lift at ASMS

As part of a mechanical services upgrade taking place at the Australian Science and Mathematics School at Sturt, please be aware that there will be a crane lift on Wednesday 22 December at the site. This will take place between 6am and 6pm.

Please remain aware of activity in the area and follow any directions or signage in place.
