Nominate for higher education engagement awards

Engagement Australia has opened applications for the 2022 Engagement Australia Excellence Awards – presenting a great opportunity for Flinders University to broadcast its successful engagement activities.

Now in its third year after transitioning from the Business-Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) Awards, the Engagement Australia Excellence Awards celebrate the most exciting and impactful engagement activities undertaken by the Australian and New Zealand Higher Education sectors.

Notably, Flinders NT Point-of-Care Testing Program was a joint-winner of last year’s award for Research Impact.

Categories for the 2022 awards are:

  • Excellence in Community Engagement
  • Excellence in Indigenous Engagement
  • Outstanding Engagement for Student Learning
  • Outstanding Engagement for Research Impact
  • Excellence in Student and Alumni Engagement
  • Excellence in International Engagement
  • Outstanding Leadership in Engagement

Engagement Australia Chair and President, Professor Jim Nyland, says the pandemic has  universities reflect on the direction and strategy of their engagement practise,  which has boosted their efforts to cultivate reciprocal partnerships within their communities.

“It is an honour to be able to recognise the innovation and resilience displayed by a sector itself under pressure from the impacts of COVID-19,” says Professor Nyland. “Many have risen to the challenge of addressing the social inequalities that were amplified by a global pandemic.

“In 2021, Engagement Australia received a record number of award applications, and this year we look forward to celebrating even more examples of impactful and purpose-driven engagement across Australia and New Zealand.”

Submissions for this year’s awards close on Wednesday 3 August 2022.
