Works around campus this week include a crane lift in Anchor Court, a new Flinders loop walking and running track, gas service audits in the Biological Sciences Building and a Hazardous Substance Audit to commence.

Crane lift in Anchor Court

A crane lift will be in Anchor Court this Saturday 30 July between 7am and 11am, weather permitting, to place a new retail container in the area. Due to the location and access restrictions, the crane base will be located in a nearby car park. Please avoid moving through these areas at this time and follow any directions and signage in place in the vicinity.

Flinders loop walking and running track

A new all-weather walking and running loop track will be installed on Flinders’ upper and lower sporting ovals, located on the corner of Sturt and Main South roads. Work will commence on the upper level in August, and is expected to be completed in October 2022. This work will involve:

• Installing a 900m x 2.0m-wide loop track for walking and running. The track surface will be made from cement-treated quarry rubble.
• Erecting track signage, with distance markers at 100m intervals.
• Installing a drinking fountain close to the track.

The project will provide an improved exercise space for people and groups in the local area. Updates will be provided when the project commences.

Gas service audits

Gas service audits will cause brief outages in the Biological Sciences Building from this week until Friday 5 August. This is part of a safety audit to ensure all accessible gas pipework and gas wares are in safe operable conditions. It will affect all levels of the building, including the basement. Outages will be for up to an hour. Please contact Darren Tan with any queries.

Hazardous Substance Audit

The Hazardous Substance Audit is continuing across campus to ensure ongoing compliance with WHS regulations. Contractors will be in buildings conducting visual inspections from now until early October, but note that the schedule for this broad program may change at short notice.
