Boosting our support of Indigenous businesses

An Indigenous Business Showcase is being held at Flinders University on 21 October, as a focal activity of the University’s three-day RAP Conference program being held from 19-21 October.

This event aims to provide opportunities for College and Portfolio purchasers and decision makers to establish partnerships with businesses owned and operated by Indigenous peoples. Up to 12 Indigenous businesses will be invited on campus for the Showcase to exhibit their services and establish relationships as potential University suppliers.

The program, prepared by the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement in collaboration with the Portfolio of the Vice President Corporate Services, supports the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) priorities to increase Indigenous procurement.

To ensure an effective event, the short procurement survey here will help us to tailor the categories of business and exhibitors. If you have any responsibility in this space, please fill out the survey this week and submit it by 2 September 2022.

Priorities set out in Flinders University’s Innovate RAP, the University’s draft procurement policy and the draft Universities Australia Indigenous procurement policy promote practices that remove barriers to procuring goods and services from Indigenous-owned and operated businesses, to enhance stronger economic and social outcomes for Indigenous peoples.

Further information about this event and the RAP Conference activities will be issued in coming weeks through FIT. Questions about this information should be directed to Kelly Maxwell.
