The 3MT winner has been crowned

Congratulations to Dr Siobhan Fitzpatrick, from the College of Medicine and Public Health (CMPH), for winning the 2022 3-Minute Thesis final for Flinders University.

Dr Fitzpatrick took out the top honour for her presentation about Repairing the gap: The impact of post-partum rectus diastasis on women’s quality of life, and she will now compete in the Asia Pacific final as Flinders University’s representative .

Dr Fitzpatrick is a big fan of the 3MT format, and says she is honoured to be recognised as a winner.

“The 3MT has been a fantastic opportunity for me to distil the message of my PhD and to present it in a way that has the greatest reach,” she says. “To communicate a complicated, multifaceted body of work into a catchy and clear message in less than three minutes has really enabled me to focus on the core purpose of my PhD.”

Runner-up in this year’s final was Demi Georgiou, from CMPH. Her presentation on Uncovering the biological importance of Porcine zona pellucida (PZP) also received the People’s Choice Award, as voted by the audience attending the final.

Thanks are extended to all students who took part in the competition, and to staff who made it happen.

The 3MT Asia-Pacific final will be available to view online from Monday 26 September.
