Stepping into the winners circle

Congratulations to PhD Pacers, winners of the inaugural Flinders University Valda Memorial Challenge!

PhD Pacers, made up of staff and PhD candidates from the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, had the highest number of team steps divided by the number of members in the team.

The team was captained by Sarah Crossman, whose mother-in-law, Valda Jukums, is the namesake of the Flinders University Valda Memorial Challenge. A beloved member of the WHS Unit, Valda sadly passed away in December 2021.

While PhD Pacers walked away the winners, all Flinders University teams should be extremely proud of their efforts, which saw Flinders come in second in the Australasian University Health Challenge.

With 300 participants accumulating 114,671,258 steps, each participant averaged 382,237 steps throughout the challenge.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and hopefully the challenge has encouraged you to build some healthy activity habits.
