Online protection for you and the University

While universities are considered key targets for cyber security attacks, Flinders University is committed to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to protect our systems and information from ever-present and evolving risks to our data security.

Phishing or spam attack training

We recently launched the first in an ongoing series of Phriendly Phishing online training modules. This Cyber Security Awareness training platform will deliver further online modules for you to complete to continue improving your knowledge and capability against cyber security attacks. In coming days, you will receive the next training instalment, which will include a video and associated quizzes.

Phishing email alert

To help you identify emails that may be Spam or Phishing attempts, new alerts will be applied to emails you receive from outside the University. A banner appearing at the top of the email will identify it as being from an external source and cautioning you before clicking any links or attachments.

Phishing Reporting Tool

If you do suspect an email is Spam or related to Phishing, you can report it instantly by using the new ‘Report Phishing Email’ button. You will find this on your Outlook email ribbon as per the image below.

The first time you use the “Report Phishing Email” button, you may be prompted to log in to Microsoft365 using your Okta credentials. This will only occur the first time you use the button. In addition, pressing the button will automatically delete the email and place it in your Deleted Items folder.

To find out more about how to identify Spam or Phishing and to protect yourself against any potential cyber-attacks, please continue to engage with the Phriendly Phishing Cyber Security awareness training which you will receive in the coming days.
