Helping older Australians remain in their homes

Flinders University researchers from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences will receive a Major Project Grant of $100,000 over two years from the Office for Ageing Well, to examine how homes can be modified to better support people to age well, maximise their participation in meaningful activities, and reduce their support needs. The project will be led by Professor Stacey George, with co-investigators including Associate Professor Kate Laver. The annual Impact Research Grants program is a key action of the new Strategic Research Agenda for Ageing Well, which was developed in partnership with the Office for Ageing Well and the Centre for Health in All Policies Research Translation (CHiAPRT), as well as academic, policy and consumer representatives.

AusStage launches new website

Emeritus Professor Julie Holledge

AusStage, the Australian database of live performance that has been hosted by Flinders since its creation in 2002, recently launched its redesigned website. This major refresh of the database was a key output of the LIEF 7 grant, “The International Breakthrough”, led by Professor Emerita Julie Holledge.

This project has added almost 45,000 new records to AusStage, with 77 individual researchers contributing to the project, supported by 110 active data entry assistants.

Along with work on the website, which took 238 days of active technical development, the major accomplishments of LIEF 7 include the addition of a new financial search mechanism, and the migration of almost 70,000 records from Theatre Aotearoa into the AusStage dataset.

Major research events were also hosted in Adelaide, including a book launch at the Queens Theatre and an academic symposium. You can join the 42,370 users of the AusStage database by checking out the website’s new look, and feedback on your user experience of the website would be appreciated via email to Liz Larkin.
