Nominate now for Australian of the Year Awards

Do you know someone who is changing lives and improving Australian society for the better? The Australian of the Year Awards are now calling for nominations of individuals from around the country who have had a positive impact on a wide range of people’s lives, to be recognised in the 2024 awards.

Whether they are a quiet achiever, a community hero, a volunteer, an advocate, a leader in their field, an entrepreneur or a change-maker, the selection panel would like to hear about them.

Four categories are open for nominations:

  • Australian of the Year – Celebrating the achievements and contributions of eminent Australians who are role models for everyone.
  • Senior Australian of the Year – Recognising Australians aged 65 and older who continue to achieve and make a difference.
  • Young Australian of the Year – Celebrating inspiring 16-to-30 year olds who have accomplished great things in all walks of life.
  • Australia’s Local Hero – Acknowledges people making a difference in their local community.

Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson, AC Governor of South Australia, is patron for the Australia Day Council of South Australia, and she has reflected on how great Australians can be when at their best in this heartfelt video message.

Nominees must be Australian citizens – but note that self nominations will not be accepted.
