Apply now for stem cell research prizes

The National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia is calling for up-and-coming leaders in stem cell science to apply for the annual Metcalf Prizes.

Two winners of the 2023 Metcalf Prizes for Stem Cell Research will each receive $60,000 to boost their careers to the next level, with entires open to all mid-career researchers working in stem cell research in Australia.

Applications are open to those who have completed their PhD or MD (research-based) within the past five to 10 years (from August 2013 to August 2018). Allowances will be made for research-career breaks, such as parental leave.

The Metcalf Prizes are an initiative of the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia, designed to support researchers whose work improves our understanding of the human body and diseases that affect it, leading to proven stem cell therapies.

Applications close Friday 28 July 2023. Previous unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to apply again this year if they are still eligible. To apply online, and to read a full list of criteria and conditions, click here.

If you have any questions about eligibility or the application process, please contact Tanya Ha, who administers the awards for the Foundation.
