South Australia’s Chief Scientist Professor Caroline McMillen visited Flinders University recently to take part in the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) seminar series and check out construction on the Health and Medical Research Building (HMRB).
Professor McMillen spoke about Flinders’ role in contributing to boosting research and innovation here in South Australia and the importance of supporting clinician-researcher retention within the state.
The seminar was followed by a panel discussion led by Professor Damien Keating, Interim Dean (Research) and Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) Director, along with panel members Professor Justine Smith, Professor Danny Eckert, Professor Raymond Chan and Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) senior executives Dr Kerrie Freeman and Professor Andrew Bersten.
After the session, the panel members joined Professor McMillen for a tour of the HMRB building site, which will enable the cultivation of new networks and relationships thanks to its close proximity to Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital.
