Step into a new spring challenge

Stay fit and active as we head into spring with the Flinders University 2023 Active Challenge, which starts on Monday 25 September.

The University’s Health and Wellbeing Program will be encouraging teams of up to 10 people to compete in the 10,000 step tournament, and to complete as many steps as possible from Monday 25 September to Monday 23 October.

To count your steps and record other physical activities during the challenge, you can:

  • Sync your steps by connecting your Fitbit, Google Fit, Apple Health app or Garmin activity tracking account.
  • Use a free app available for smart phones.
  • Request a free pedometer from Challenge Coordinator there are a limited number available – so it’s first in, first served!
  • Record other moderate or vigorous intensity activities in the Step Log.

Teams need to be set up so they can start the challenge on Monday 25 September – so register your involvement at 10,000 Steps with your university email address. If you participated last year, you do not need to register again. Please notify the Challenge Coordinator once you have registered.

After you have registered, you can start assembling your team. Once you have a Team Captain and a team name, contact the Challenge Coordinator to record the team. If you would like to participate but don’t have a team, the coordinator can allocate you into one.

The Challenge Coordinator will be available to facilitate team setup between Friday 15 and Friday 22 September.

Final results of the 2023 Challenge will be averaged to compensate for varying numbers in teams.

For more information, please contact Challenge Coordinator Karen Hayden by email karen.hayden@flinders.edu.au or phone 8201 3117.
