Flinders grads behind award winning film

A locally made horror film from Flinders University Screen graduates has been named Best Feature Film at the inaugural South by South West (SXSW) Sydney.

You’ll Never Find Me from Directors Josiah Allen (BCreatArts(Screen)’17) and Indianna Bell (BCreatArts(Screen)’17), tells the story of an elderly recluse’s chance encounter with a mysterious young woman in an unpredictable, claustrophobic horror. Flinders drama graduate Brendan Rock (BCreatArts(Hons)(Drama)’03) is one of the lead actors in the award-winning feature film, while Flinders University Chancellor John Hood was an Executive Producer.

Co-Directors Josih and Indianna were stoked with their win, and thanked the team who put their heart and soul into the project.

“A huge number of people have put so much love and time into this project, so it feels good to have that hard work recognised. The film has now travelled to festivals all around the world- but being an Aussie film made entirely by Aussies, it’s such a thrill that it’s been well received here,” they said.

“After making a few short films following university, ‘You’ll Never Find Me’ is our first feature and we really approached it in the same way that we did our shorts. We called in a lot of favours, did plenty of begging and roped in a bunch of talented friends to make this film together.

“It was a long journey but we’re so proud of what everyone created. Making films is a process that feels addictive in a way- we’re still a bit bruised and sleep deprived from this project but we’re already daydreaming about the next!”

After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year, You’ll Never Find Me is garnering rave reviews around the world, and has a current rating of 100% on Rotten TomatoesYou’ll Never Find Me will show at the Adelaide Film Festival this Friday 27 October at 4.45pm.
