As the semester draws to a close, the Canvas project team are sharing some tips to help Topic Coordinators finalise their Gradebooks:
- Students who haven’t submitted an assessment can be messaged from within the gradebook.
- Since the release of the Gradebook improvements in August, it is possible to search for students by name, group, section or submission status.
- Gradebook columns can be arranged in order of name, due date, marks or by the order they appear in your course. For those who prefer a customised order, the columns can be arranged manually by dragging a column heading to a different location.
- When SAS teams export grades from Canvas, they are rounded automatically to the nearest whole number. Alternatively, an override column allows for manual grade changes.
- Change a submission’s status to Late or Missing to assist marking, or set the status to Excused to exclude it from the gradebook.
- Usage of the Fail or Holding Grade column continues in Canvas, but the setup is somewhat different. Those finalising Canvas gradebooks for the first time should read the user guide before using it.
