Plugging into future energy innovators

Future Energy Week showcased current and emerging innovators in the transition to clean energy at events in the Tonsley Innovation District.

A host of Flinders University speakers were joined by national and state ministers to deliver important messages about Australia’s future energy on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 November. This included Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy the Hon. Chris Bowen MP, and South Australian Deputy Premier Hon. Susan Close MP, while SA Minister for Energy and Mining Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP discussed the policies, successes, challenges and exciting future of energy in Australia.

The Tonsley Main Assembly Building (MAB) area outside of the main entrance at Flinders Tonsley was bustling with exciting displays including a battery-powered plane, one of South Australia’s fully electric buses and electric car conversions. Representatives were also on hand from industries that are providing exciting solutions to challenges presented by Australia’s journey to a renewable energy future.

This special energy summit provided an excellent opportunity for Flinders students and researchers, who will one day help industry and government with innovation and research collaborations.
