End of year campus updates

Ring Road footpath closure

On Friday 1 December, the Ring Road footpath opposite the Health Sciences Building will be closed (northern side) while some large fallen pine trees are removed. Work will commence at 8am and continue all day. Traffic management will be in place to divert pedestrians and cyclists.

University Drive pedestrian crossing

Light poles for the pedestrian crossing on University Drive will be installed this week, weather permitting. The work will take four days, involving lane closures and traffic management. Please note that conditions and lane closures will change depending on the work being done. Slow down and follow speed limit and lane merge instructions.

Traffic Management

Traffic management continues on Sports Road around the Health and Medical Research Building. Temporary traffic lights are in place to ensure traffic flows are appropriately managed during peak times. Pedestrian access is available past the site but please be aware of changing conditions.

Plaza Sky Sign – Bedford Park

The Flinders University sign you can see from the Plaza (above The Tav) is being updated to feature the new Flinders logo, with work commencing on Wednesday 29 November and continuing all week. There will be a pedestrian exclusion zone in the Plaza at the base of the building, so please take care to follow redirections.

Humanities Building façade repairs

Repairs to the Humanities Building façade are underway and the blue scaffold you can see from the Plaza will be in place until project close on 17 December. Noisy work will be conducted out of business hours between Monday 20 November and Sunday 3 December. The Plaza ramp adjacent to the building will remain closed. Please take note of exclusion zones and follow detour directions.

Central Library lift replacement

Work has commenced to replace the northern lift in the Central Library. This three-month project will ensure a new, faster, more reliable lift, which is expected to be in operation by the end of February 2024. An alternative lift can be found at the southern end of the Central Library. These works will also affect the loading bay at the rear of the building. Deliveries now need to be made via the Hub lift or the southern Central Library lift. The ground floor emergency exit out to the loading bay will still be operational.

Flinders Living footpaths

Some footpaths around Flinders Living will be upgraded between now and the end of January 2024. Exclusion zones and pedestrian redirections will be in place, and a work compound will be set up in Car Park P22. If you use this area, be aware of increased vehicle and machinery traffic.
