Changes to traffic access near HMRB

Traffic access change – between HMRB and Flinders hospital precinct

If you travel between University Drive and the Flinders hospital precinct, note that pedestrians are being diverted past the Flinders train station and across the overpass to access the hospital until 14 April. Access from University Drive to the Health and Medical Research Building, Flinders train station and car park 12 will be maintained – but from Wednesday 10 April, vehicle access beyond the Sports Rd/Service Rd intersection into the hospital precinct will be permanently closed (access will be open for Emergency Service vehicles only). Follow directions posted on signs and stay safe.

Car park 14 entrance works

From 4pm to 5pm on Wednesday 10 April, the parking detection loop at the entrance of car park 14 on Sturt campus is being replaced. Please use an alternate car park during this time. The car park exit onto Bellevue Drive and Sturtbrae Crescent will not be affected.

Contractors on Central Library roof

From Saturday 13 April to Sunday 12 May, contractors from a telco provider will be on the Central Library roof to replace and maintain equipment. Works will continue over the month, with an Elevated Work Platform being used on weekends in the loading dock between the Library and Matthew Flinders Theatre. Some of the equipment will be accessed by abseilers, with exclusion zones beneath these areas while they are active. Please take note of all exclusion zones and follow redirections.

Upcoming power outages on South Ridge, Bedford Park

Across May, June and July we will be doing mandatory electrical maintenance that will involve power outages affecting all buildings in Science & Engineering on the south ridge at Bedford Park. At the moment, we are consulting with building users to work on a plan to minimise disruption as much as possible. Electrical works include:

May and June

RCD Testing and Appliance Test & Tag for the following buildings: Engineering, IST, Earth Sciences, SILC and Physical Sciences Workshop.

July

RCD Testing and Appliance Test & Tag for Physical Sciences and Biology buildings.

High Voltage maintenance affecting all South Ridge buildings.

Commissioning of the new transformer for the Biology building.

Service isolation for the Undergraduate Sciences Labs Stage 2.

We are in the process of meeting with researchers and managers of sensitive equipment. If you are planning or running research across these months, or manage power sensitive equipment, and have not yet been contacted by PFD, please contact Pram Kalubowila.

Electrical Maintenance Program

To meet mandatory compliance obligations and keep everyone safe, the essential electrical safety maintenance team will be on north ridge during April in the following buildings:

  • Yungkurrinthi Student Engagement Centre
  • Health Counselling & Disability
  • Sports Centre
  • Health Sciences, and
  • Health Sciences Lecture Theatre Complex.

What does it involve?

RCD (Safety Switch) Testing will be conducted between midnight and 8am, involving a short power outage. Test & Tag of electrical appliances will be conducted both after hours and during business hours. It requires your appliances to be available and powered down for a few minutes.

What do you need to do?

  • Save your work before you leave each day.
  • If you keep appliances in secure cupboards/rooms, please contact Luke Lilburn to arrange a time to have them tested.
  • If you manage power sensitive or critical equipment and require specific timing arrangements to minimise impact, please contact Luke Lilburn.
