A massive congratulations to Flinders students Amanda Reid and Caitlin Ward and alumni Ella Sabljak who are coming home from Paris with some very special souvenirs – a gold medal for Amanda, silver for Caitlin and bronze for Ella.
Amanda successfully defended her Tokyo paralympic gold medal in the C1-3 500m time trial event, and now owns both the world and Paralympic records, while Caitlin was pilot for Jess Gallagher in the women’s B 1000m time trial, where they secured second place. Ella took to the court with Australia’s mixed wheelchair rugby team the Steelers, who defeated defending Paralympic champions Great Britain in the bronze medal match. Ella is one of only eight women competing in the mixed tournament.
Good luck to Foundation Studies student Ella Jones who’s back in the pool tomorrow night at 5.50pm for the 400m free heats.
Congratulations to all our Flinders Olympians and Paralympians for a remarkable campaign in Paris, and for doing us proud and representing their country on the global stage. After years of hard work and dedication, you should all be proud of your achievements. Best of luck to all those hoping for a shot in LA in 2028!
