Tonsley Car Park access and campus bus update

SA Water are temporarily closing part of MAB Circuit from Wednesday 25 September to Tuesday 1 October 2024 to facilitate works.

If you work and park in car park 2 at Tonsley and enter the precinct from the west (Alawoona Avenue, Mitchell Park), you will be directed to detour south around the TAFE building.

During this time, car park 2 will remain open and access to all Tonsley buildings and car parks will be maintained via detours. The Tonsley Link campus bus stop and route will be unaffected.

Registry Building weekend closure

From 5.30am to 8am on Saturday 28 September, there will be no access to the Registry building due to crane works. Level 2 of the Registry building will remain closed on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.

From Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October, internal works will continue inside rooms 210, 211, 212 and 214, with these rooms inaccessible on these days. Noisy work will be completed after hours wherever possible, however staff working on level 2 of the Registry building may still hear some building works.

Works are expected to be completed by Friday 4 October.

Refurbishment of P&C area starting soon

Works are scheduled between 30 September and 31 October to refurbish the ground floor People and Culture office in the Registry (annex) building. People & Culture staff will be temporarily relocated to Registry level 1.

Update on improvement works in CSE

Multiple projects are underway in CSE – with completion due during spring.

  • Reminder that level 1 of the McHughs Building is closed this week to replace the gas-operated heating system with an electric system. Access to the building will be via building’s other entry door, located under the balcony on ground level, as shown on the map.
  • Stormwater works in the Physical Sciences courtyard are expected to finish this month.
  • The vinyl floor has been laid in the new ground floor undergraduate science lab and external lighting and joinery (pictured) is underway. The works are expected to be completed in October.
  • The accessible ramp connecting the McHughs building to SILC and car park 9 is nearly finished too. Concrete has been poured, garden beds backfilled and handrail works ongoing this fortnight.
  • McHughs Building accessible bathroom works are ongoing with completion expected by the end of October 2024.

If you work in CSE, check out the project updates on the CSE Central SharePoint page. Please continue to take extra care when moving around the area, follow all directions on signage and allow extra time to take detours.

Flinders Medical Centre bus stop works and Flinders Drive closure

As part of their redevelopment works, FMC plan to close Flinders Drive from 8pm on Tuesday 1 to 5am on Wednesday 2 October. Works include removing the concrete barriers set up for bus bay A on the eastern side of Flinders Drive and starting the pre works for bus bay C, which will be located closer to Service Road.

Check Adelaide metro for service changes if you are catching a bus to/from University Drive, Registry Road and Flinders Drive during the works/road closure.

Reminder: save your work prior to leaving – Safety Switch (RCD) Testing

The biannual testing program continues in September in Sturt buildings, the Mark Oliphant Building (MOB) and Tonsley.

RCD Testing requires a short power outage and will be conducted between midnight and 8am to minimise disruptions.

If you work in these buildings, please save your work before you leave each day and look out for details via email.
