
Associate Professor Courtney Ryder and Professor Bridianne O’Dea have each been awarded almost $1 million in funding from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).
The funding will allow Discipline Lead for Trauma and Injury Associate Professor Courtney Ryder to explore how to improve the treatment and outcomes of injuries sustained from road traffic accidents, traumatic brain injuries, burns, falls and near drowning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The IMPACT ‘Indigenous Measures for Protecting and Addressing Critical Trauma’ project received $999,181 from a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Indigenous Health Research Grant. Little Heroes Professor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Bridianne O’Dea was awarded $975,579 for her project, ‘Left to their own devices’, which aims to help General Practitioners (GPs) to better support their adolescent patients while they await access to specialist mental health treatment and services. Professor Odea’s project received funding from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) 2023 Mental Health Research. You can read more about the project here.
