In touch with … Peta Pool

Working in two roles within a university can be a difficult job, but Peta Pool is embracing the opportunities it presents to engage with people from across Flinders. We sat down with her to discuss her roles, and how Flinders lured her back after she spent two years in the commercial world.

What is your role at Flinders?

I have two roles within the University.

My role as Research Partnership Director (Special Projects) within the Research Portfolio is to bring a strategic marketing lens to the portfolio, developing and enabling strategies and building capacity in collaboration with our Marketing and Communications colleagues to build our profile for Flinders Research.

My other role is leading the innovative CareNEXUS Program, working with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences leadership and operations teams to implement the CareNEXUS strategy focused on bringing together education, research and practice to transform the way we approach care.

What’s the favourite thing about your job?

Working in an organisation and with people who are driven to make a significant difference to the world in which we live. I’m inspired by the real-world impact of the work being done at Flinders every day and am excited to play a part in it.

I’ve been back at Flinders for around four months having had two years in the commercial world as the Marketing Manager for SeaLink South Australia. The opportunity to come back to Flinders in two such different but exciting roles and working in an organisation and with people who are driven to make a significant difference to the world in which we live is both inspiring and immensely satisfying.

Describe your work in three words:

Varied, challenging, rewarding.

What are you most proud of?

This is a tricky one – I haven’t been here all that long. But there is some exciting stuff that I’m super proud of that is in the pipeline, so stay tuned!

What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

Spending time with my family and friends, going to a musical theatre production, margaritas,  music and dancing.

What’s your go-to coffee order?

I don’t have one – I am a tea devotee!
