It’s not TABOO. Period.

Free period products are available for students at Flinders City Campus, thanks to a new partnership with TABOO Period Products. TABOO dispensing units can be found in female and accessible toilets from levels 2-6 and include tampons and pads.

FUSA Women’s Officer Lily

FUSA Women’s Officer Lily is a longtime advocate for an inclusive and supportive university for all students and is thrilled to see free period products at the City Campus join existing initiatives in place at other campuses.

“Access to period products is a basic necessity, yet for many students, affordability and availability can be a challenge.

Having these products readily accessible at Flinders City Campus ensures that no one has to miss out on classes, study sessions, or social activities simply because they don’t have what they need,” said Lily.

This partnership continues work in the space started by FUSA in 2019, who partnered with the University to provide products at Bedford Park, Tonsley and Sturt campuses.

Flinders alumna and co-founder of TABOO Period Products Eloise Hall joined us at the City Campus to launch the new partnership.

“As a Flinders Uni alumna, it is a lovely full circle moment to see TABOO dispensing units installed at the City Campus. When I was a student, accessible period care was a foreign concept to most of us, as was a Flinders CBD campus!

Now, thanks to the advocacy of both students and staff, period products are freely accessible for students to access whenever they need,” said Eloise.

“It’s so exciting to be working with TABOO, founded by Flinders alumna Eloise Hall. TABOO goes beyond offering high-quality period products; it’s about challenging the stigma around menstruation and advocating for period care as a fundamental right. The fact that every purchase helps support people in need makes this collaboration even more impactful,” said Lily.

TABOO’s products are produced using green energy and are packaged in environmentally considered wraps and boxes. The tampons are paper-wrapped, and the pads are wrapped in a plant-based bioplastic, meaning the packaging breaks down naturally in the environment.

“Over the lifetime of this partnership, we could be diverting tonnes of plastic from landfill, as students substitute using TABOO products instead of conventional plastic products,” said Eloise.

As for what’s next? Lily hopes this small but significant step will increase accessibility and awareness around menstrual health on campus – and continue support for brands like TABOO, who are making a real difference.

“Let’s keep this momentum going to ensure that no student is ever held back by something as natural as their period.”
