New webpages to support student success

The Student Success and Wellbeing team have developed some new webpages for the student community, specifically covering Academic Progress and Support for Students. The purpose of the webpages are to provide students with a clear understanding of the issues involved and awareness of the support structures that help students. The primary message is how we can support students to be successful at Flinders University.

Academic Progress

The Academic Progress webpages are on the Student website under My Course, and provide information for students on how they progress through their topics and courses. The webpages also better communicate university processes, and outline support mechanisms in place to help students their academic progression journey.

This aligns to the recently updated Student Progress policy and procedures, but there are also links to the Support for Students policy, Student Conduct policy and the Assessment policy that also impact on academic progress.

There is information on Topic Level engagement, particularly looking at early student engagement prior to Census date, and also Course Level engagement. There are five levels of progression outlined in the Student Progress policy and procedures.

The webpages guide students through each level, including:

  • What each level means
  • How the University will communicate with them
  • What students need to do at each level
  • How the University supports students at each stage
  • What any continuation of progression issues may mean for each student

Support for Students

The Support for Students webpages are on the Student website under Support and Services, and they bring together key information on how Flinders supports student success including communication campaigns, touchpoints, referral processes and support interventions. They also provide information on Flinders University’s ‘student success’ mission.
