Workplace safety inspections are planned and systematic physical inspections of University workplaces. These inspections are used to;
- identify and monitor workplace hazards
- identify changes to work areas which may pose new risks
- monitor effectiveness of previous corrective actions, and
- monitor that safety standards are being maintained.
The frequency of inspection depends on the risk level of the space (i.e. every 6 months, 12 months or 2 years) as defined in the WHS Safety Inspection Procedures
Workplace Inspections are to be conducted via the FlinSafe system. This is to make sure that records are maintained, can be reported on and tracking of corrective actions can occur. To conduct an inspection please see FlinSafe / Field Trips Portal – noting access is through Okta.
To start a workplace inspection, select the Inspection icon > New Inspection and then the relevant checklist (i.e. Office / Common Area, Laboratory, Workshop).
Findings are to be recorded in the system and any corrective actions that need to be taken are to be assigned either via:
- ServiceOne (for infrastructure and general maintenance) with the reference number also recorded in FlinSafe against the corrective action (on the corrective actions tab).
- for all other safety corrective actions, record these in the inspection checklist (also on the corrective actions tab) and assign to the relevant person.
