
It’s a busy time around our campuses with Student Hub flooring replacement on levels 1 and 2, Humanities Road works resuming, rooftop lightning protection – plus truck, bus stop, carpet cleaning and project news!
Level 1 and 2 Student Hub flooring works
From Monday 1 December, flooring replacement works will commence on the first and second floor of the Student Hub. The work will be completed in four stages until Friday 6 February 2026.
The first stage of works runs from Monday 1 to Friday 19 December on the northeastern end of the second floor.
- There will be no access via the northern stairs and lift between level 1 and level 2, however the southern lift and stairs remain open.
- There will be no level 2 access between the Library and the Student Hub, however access on level 1 remains open.
- Wildernest and Alere Function Rooms remain open and accessible via the southern lift and stairs.
Please follow directions and diversions as marked on signs – noting the access will change as work progresses to subsequent stages.
Humanities Road pedestrian crossing works resume
Upgrade works have resumed this week on the intersection adjacent Oasis and The Laneway. The northern portion of Humanities Road (behind the Central Library) is closed for electrical works in the rear Library car park. This will be followed by civil works on the road. Works continue until Friday 19 December.
Lightning Protection update
From Monday 1 to Wednesday 10 December, you may see workers on the Health Sciences Lecture Theatre and Health Sciences building roof tops. They are installing the lightning rods and down conductors and connecting to the grid.
Access via the bridge between the Health Sciences Building (level 1) and the Lecture Theatre (level 3) will be closed during works.
Truck in Registry Road accessible bays
From 5pm on Thursday 28 to early on Saturday 30 November, CSIRO’s Science truck will be on campus, parked across the accessible bays adjacent to the Alan Mitchell Building/Flinders Sport and Fitness. Please park in alternate accessible bays during this time, which will be allocated and signposted on the upper level of car park 6.
Bus stop refurbishment
Do you commute to/from university and use bus stop 26A on University Drive (opposite Sturt Drive)? The bus stop is having a facelift from Tuesday 2 to Friday 12 December – including painting, cleaning, reroofing and new safety glass.
During work, the stop will be fenced off, and Adelaide Metro will set up temporary stops right next door. Look out for signage onsite.
Carpet cleaning – early December
From 6am to 12 noon, select carpet cleaning in corridors, hallways, open plan offices and meeting rooms continues in the following North Ridge Bedford Park buildings:

In the second half of December, cleaning will progress to spaces in the Central Library, Social Sciences North and South, Humanities, Sturt Library, Sturt North, South and West, Registry, Professional Services Building, Student Hub and Union building, Student Centre, Yungkurrinthi, Tonsley and HMRB.
To allow spaces to dry, please avoid walking on carpets for 24 hours wherever possible (spaces which are bookable have been/will be booked to allow for this).
City campus works update
Works in the southern end of levels 4 and 5 of the city campus continue with demolition works expected to be finalised this week. Work will provide two collaborative learning spaces on level 4 and a computer lab on level 5.
SSN Courtyard works update
The footpath and pedestrian access works wrap up this week with new steps on the southern and northern sides, handrails, paving and landings in place.
Refurbishment of Occupational Therapy Clinical Skills space completed
Works to refurbish the Occupational Therapy Clinical Skills facilities on level 4 at Sturt are now complete. The facilities provide a simulated learning facility for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ Occupational Therapy program.
Accessible toilet works completed
Works to widen accessible toilet doorways around campus are now complete.
