Develop your cultural knowledge and anti-racism skills – Kuru Wiya Kuru Palya

Following on from the launch of our new Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, we are pleased to invite fixed-term and continuing staff to participate in Reconciliation SA’s anti-racism program, Kuru Wiya Kuru Palya.

Reconciliation SA aims to create a safe learning environment that encourages people to embrace difficult conversations, confront and dismantle systemic racism and prejudice in all its forms.

This is a multi-part program:

  • Pre-survey – to establish interpretation/knowledge and a baseline of awareness and understanding
  • Workshop 1 (three hours) – Kuru Wiya is a structured and facilitated session aimed at fostering understanding
  • Intermission (two weeks) – Participants are provided with a workbook and information to complete prior to workshop 2
  • Workshop 2 (two hours) – Kuru Palya is a facilitated discussion between presenters and participants
  • Post survey – this survey assesses changes and increased awareness of participants.

Staff attending this program will:

  • gain an increased awareness of the impacts of racism on individuals, organisations, and society; and
  • build confidence to engage and create a supporting organisational culture that reflects a diverse and inclusive environment.

The first program kicks off next week – so get in quickly to secure your place!

You can enrol via the Staff Learning Portal.
