
2026 Farrer Memorial Mid-Career Award for agricultural science

Congratulations to Associate Professor Rhiannon Schilling, Strategic Associate Professor (Agricultural Sciences – Agronomy), College of Science and Engineering, on winning the NSW 2026 Farrer Memorial Mid-Career Award for her outstanding contributions to Australian agricultural science and her leadership in drought resilience, agronomy and climate smart farming systems. Awarded by the Farrer Memorial Trust for exceptional achievements and significant contributions made by a mid-career researcher who will continue to make an impact throughout their career.
Associate Professor Schilling has played a central role in strengthening drought resilience in Australian agriculture, including founding the South Australian Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub and the South Australian Climate Resilience Discovery Farms network.
40 under 40 finalist

Congratulations to Associate Professor Sam Elliott, College of Human Sciences and Culture, on being named in Solstice Media’s SA 40 Under 40 list for his research and leadership in youth sport, specifically around parental involvement, mental health and youth sport, and sport participation and retention. 40 Under 40 is a globally recognised program that celebrates the achievements of South Australia’s young entrepreneurs and leaders.
Associate Professor Elliott’s research and impact reaches into sports industry and the community, here and overseas, including his work with West Adelaide Football Club, Football Australia, Hockey Australia, Cycling Australia, the AFL, and the Australian Sports Commission. Future doctors explore pathways at NT Medical Career Expo
For the eighth year, Darwin brought together medical students and prevocational doctors to explore careers in the NT’s healthcare system with the NT Medical Career Expo 2026 drawing 27 organisations to Royal Darwin Hospital on Wednesday 10 June, including 14 of 15 national medical specialty colleges.
Hosted by Flinders University’s NT Regional Training Hub, the expo featured professional medical colleges such as the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
