The University is inviting feedback on a new Media Engagement, Government Relations and Public Statements Policy, which sets out a contemporary, integrated approach to how we engage externally across media, government and digital platforms.

The policy clarifies who may speak on behalf of the University, outlines expectations for public engagement where there is a connection to Flinders, and establishes clear governance for media activity, social media use, and official communications. It also supports academic and intellectual freedom, enabling staff to contribute to public debate within their areas of expertise while safeguarding the University’s reputation.

The draft policy is available in the Policy Library – Comment on draft policies. Feedback can be provided to policy@flinders.edu.au until 10 July 2026.
