Heading away soon? Review the security checklist before you travel and help keep Flinders information secure while on the go.

Travel smart and stay alert by keeping your devices close, protecting sensitive information, and being mindful of who may be watching or listening in airports, hotels, cafés and on public transport.

To ensure you stay cyber safe when travelling, be sure to follow this checklist:

• Limit the amount of information you carry and don’t take devices that are not necessary.
• Avoid using public computers and public Wi-Fi.
• Use the Flinders Virtual Private Network (VPN) if you are required to access any sensitive information.
• Lock your devices and store them securely. Never leave them unattended in public places.
• Do not put laptops and devices in checked baggage. Put it in carry-on luggage.
• Choose private spaces to work and consider using a privacy filter over your screen.
• Be aware of eavesdroppers and curious onlookers, as they may listen in on conversations or look at your screen or documents to obtain information.
• Avoid discussing confidential business matters in public areas.
• Don’t share your live location or post photos of your accommodation while you are travelling.
• Never post images of your passport, boarding pass or tickets as they contain sensitive personal data.
• If your Flinders owned mobile device is lost or stolen, notify IDS immediately.
