Staff are invited to receive a free ‘essential health check’ at Flinders University’s Adelaide campuses this month, thanks to BUPA.
Regular health checks provide are a simple way to get a snapshot of your health. At the 10-minute appointments a registered nurse will look at key indicators of overall health including:
- blood pressure
- total cholesterol
- blood glucose
- modifiable lifestyle risk factors
Fasting is not required. The screening process involves a simple finger prick with two droplets of blood collected. Staff are asked to inform the nurse if they feel light-headed at any stage, or have a history of fainting. People who are pregnant or have a pacemaker must also inform the nurse, as some components of the appraisal will be impacted.
