Students ‘dropping in’ for support

Staff may notice activity on campus next week with ‘Drop In Support Lounge’ events for students at Bedford Park and Sturt.

The purpose of the Drop In Support Lounge is to raise students’ awareness of the free support services available to them at Flinders. These include support with financial, administrative, academic or welfare matters, career planning and tailored support for international and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

All students are invited to drop in, grab a snack and chat to College and support services staff for advice and information.

Last year and in semester 1 2019, the activity was called ‘Drop In Not Out’. The Drop In Support Lounge is the same concept, but the event format has changed. The new set-up gives students a more relaxed and inviting way to engage, with lounge chairs and stand-up tables (rather than the previous ‘counter-service’ style interaction), as a result of staff and student feedback.

Staff are welcome to direct students to one of the following events to help them learn more about the support available to help them succeed at Flinders.
