In 2015 Flinders Northern Territory actively engaged in ‘building the pipeline to the Northern Territory Medical Program (NTMP)’ by establishing science awards for Years 10 and 11 high school students who have shown interest and progress in science topics.

In November, St Joseph’s Catholic College in Katherine celebrated the achievements of three Year 10 pupils, Elmore Anzac, Lloyd Raymond and Debra Pappberll, recipients of the Flinders NT 2015 Science Awards.

This year is the first time Flinders Northern Territory and St Joseph’s Catholic College have collaborated on the following projects:

  • Flinders Science Awards for Indigenous Pupils
  • A Speech Pathology student–led clinic at the college, to assist pupils with language and speech difficulties.

At Flinders we believe that strong university-community partnerships with local educational organisations on varied programs, are a key to building capacity and confidence in local pupils, encouraging them to undertake university studies and fulfil some of their dreams!
