Dementia in Indigenous Communities

Heather Jensen

Dementia is acknowledged as a significant issue for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote communities. Recent studies have found that the prevalence rates for Indigenous people are three to five times as high as for the non-Indigenous community.

The Centre for Remote Health (CRH) will be delivering a two-day interactive workshop Recognising and Responding to Dementia in Indigenous Communities from Wednesday 21st – Thursday 22nd March 2018. The course is facilitated by Allied Health lecturers Annie Farthing and Heather Jensen.

Develop your skills needed to provide quality dementia care and support, use the Kimberley Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (KICA) tool and network with others working in this complex and challenging area of dementia in Indigenous Communities.
