Exploring a career in health

Flinders University staff from both the Northern Territory and South Australia attended the NT Skills, Employment and Careers Expo in August. The Expo is an annual event that travels across the NT and offers a unique opportunity for anyone interested in starting, changing, re-skilling or upgrading their career. Organisations from both the Northern Territory and interstate attend the Expo which provides a diverse range of options for attendees.

Staff in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Darwin interacted with approximately 5000 attendees to promote Flinders University courses, the Northern Territory Medical Program and careers in health more generally.

Students on placement in the NT as well as members of local Rural and Remote Student Health Clubs were also on hand to answers attendees’ questions about career pathways in health.

Attendees at all sites were shown a range of heath professions that are available to study. They were able to answer questions on health-related topics to win a prize, learn how to listen to each other’s hearts and lungs and interact with students on placement.
