Award Ceremony for HDR Success

The Office of Graduate Research held a special ceremony on 31 May 2022 to present the annual awards to celebrate the success of our outstanding Higher Degree by Research students.

The ceremony, which was attended by about 60 people in person and online marked the achievements of 19 award recipients, who were announced by the Interim Dean of Graduate Research, Professor Diane Chamberlain.

We were also joined by Professor Colin Stirling, President and Vice-Chancellor and Professor Robert Saint, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) who spoke of the importance of research achievements.

Professor Saint highlighted, “This is an important annual event for Flinders University, in which we acknowledge and celebrate some of our brightest, most talented and most diligent Higher Degree by Research students, and their dedicated supervisors”.

Professor Saint also pointed to Flinders University’s success in delivering research of a high quality. “Over the last four years, we’ve seen our external research income, the best indicator of research intensity and future research outputs and impact, grow by about 70%, and we’re expecting an even higher figure this year.”

“Your supervisors have played a vital role, by contributing their expertise, mentorship and discussions, as well as helping motivate you through the enormous challenges of a PhD research program. It’s an incredibly important role and I thank our HDR supervisors, many of whom are here, for your commitment to your students”

He noted that the awards and prizes “are recognition of your intense curiosity, your talent, your persistence, your academic excellence, your accomplishments and your potential as future leaders and contributors to our society, whether that’s in research or any of the myriad of other careers open to you”

Congratulations to all of todays winners!
