Digital Platforms and Operations Update – November 2018

Intended audience: IDS staff

Digital Platforms & Operations (DPO) delivers core information technology services like network services, unified communication services, computer & storage services, data centre services and cloud services like Office365 to student, staff and researchers at Flinders University.

DPO has so far delivered over 40 projects and initiatives in 2018 with our key recent achievements including:

  • The upgrade/replacement of over 2000 Wireless access points, at all Flinders University locations, with no impact on the Wi-Fi service,
  • Successful roll out of Windows 10 to staff and teaching and learning spaces,
  • Supported PFD in successfully delivering several infrastructure projects including parking signage, solar panels on car park 3, Victoria Square level 6 and the Learning Space Program,
  • Upgrade of the SA & NT remote site network and computer services.

Currently, our key focus is on the active/active data centre platform (a project to provide a more resilient IT platform to the University), the relocation of our off-site data centre and the renewal of the Universities computer and storage environment for enterprise and research systems.
