Meet Juni, a Flinders University student about to enter his final semester of the Master of Business (International Business). Juni is a proud Flinders Business ambassador who calls Adelaide home. He describes himself as “…a football lover, a grateful traveller, a thankful husband, the first son of four siblings, a positive thinker, and a lifelong learner”.
Highly regarded international reputation
Juni is a recipient of the Australia Awards Scholarship, meaning he had the option to apply to study at any university in Australia. His shortlist was spread across three universities, one in Melbourne, one in Sydney, and Flinders University in Adelaide. He decided on Flinders University because Flinders Business offered one of the most highly regarded business degrees in Australia – and Adelaide offered the perfect mix of nature and a bustling business district.
Juni has enjoyed his Flinders experience so much, he is looking to continue studying with Flinders Business once he completes his Master of International Business. “I love everything about this university. I want to earn a PhD here as well.”
Inspirational teachers
The Master of Business (International Business) offers Juni many opportunities to expand his expertise in the business industry and to grow himself as a business professional. Juni has found great mentors within Flinders Business, namely Roberta Crouch (MBA Director) and Adrian Cheung (Business Finance Lecturer). Roberta has fostered Juni’s knowledge and passion for international business – specifically in export management – and supported him in creating his own startup business that he will be launching soon in his home country, Indonesia.

Flinders Business has offered Juni other mentorships in the form of fellow students. His classes are made up of a diverse range of people and professionals, furthering his education of international business from the viewpoints of different cultures and countries – Australia, China, Europe, and Africa to name a few – teaching him more than coursework can on its own. For Juni, this is “…priceless for working in business”. It’s no wonder that Flinders Business is No. 1 in South Australia in Accounting and Economics for overall experience and teaching quality (The Good Universities Guide 2019).
Graduate outcomes
Education is very important to Juni, and studying his Masters degree at Flinders University means he “…can get a good quality of life, earn a good amount of money, and can have a better life after [his] degree”. He studied his Bachelor of Engineering in Indonesia and came to study in Australia for his postgraduate degree, with the motivation of being able to change his community. By ‘strengthening human capital’ through education for Indonesia, Juni hopes to allow for his country to gain maximum benefits from international trade. This is why the Master of Business (International Business) is the perfect degree for him.

Juni looks at his education based on the return on investment he gets from the study. “There are many types of investments in this life,” he says. “But for me, education is always the best investment.” Juni’s decision to choose a university in Australia was a life-changing one, and his investment is already paying off through networking and lessons from classmates, his startup venture, and the mentors he works with.
“For those who are highly interested in experiencing a journey beyond just pursuing a degree, I would encourage you to join Flinders University. If you choose Flinders University as your place to study in Australia it will be a journey beyond earning a degree. It could be a journey of making differences.”
