Meet Changhao Men, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) business student studying at Flinders University. Originally from China, Changhao first discovered Flinders University through an education agent. He chose to study at Flinders because of its international reputation and connection to industry.
Excellent student services
One of the things Changhao enjoys most about Flinders is the student services and the teaching staff. “Once you begin classes at Flinders Business, you will realise how wise your choice was. The campuses are full of friendly students and provide a lot of services and facilities you will need,” he says. “The tutors here are dedicated, knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful to every student. They also give students many opportunities and support for personal and professional development, using their own professional experience and expertise to guide you in your own career.”
High quality teaching staff
Within Flinders Business, the Bachelor of Commerce has a mentoring program and specialised tutor program. All classes are recorded and stored online so students can refer back to them throughout each semester. “It has helped that I have been able to playback each lecture, as they are all recorded, helping me to review each lesson’s content at home independently to improve my learning outcomes,” says Changhao. It’s no wonder that Flinders Business is No. 1 in South Australia in Accounting and Economics for overall experience and teaching quality (The Good Universities Guide 2019).
Industry recognised qualifications
The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) prepares students for a career in accounting and commerce including the analysis, interpretation, and communication of financial information. This degree is accredited by CPA Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
The range of case studies incorporated into the course has really helped Changhao understand accounting, quantitative data, management, economics, law, and finance. Once he graduates from Flinders Business, Changhao plans to sit his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams and work in financial accounting.
Work experience programs
While studying he has been working part-time at the Adelaide Airport. It’s been a great opportunity for him to improve his spoken English. He plans to join the Flinders University Work Experience Program to gain additional work experience while completing his course. The program gives the business community access to enthusiastic volunteers preparing for their careers – discover how fellow business student Crystal has benefitted from the program.
