Flinders University Library has been very pleased to host Tomoko Sammi, from the Medical Library at Hiroshima University, on a 2 month staff exchange between our two institutions during November-December.

Tomoko (pictured with Ian McBain, University Librarian) has spent her time with us based in the Sturt Library.  She has also worked with staff from several different departments, including the Liaison Librarians,  Document Delivery, Medical and Law Libraries.  She has been particularly focused on learning more about the liaison librarian role, the library traineeship and the ways the library offers support to international students.

Tomoko’s visit continues our fruitful relationship with the Hiroshima University Library, with Chris O’Malley from the Flinders Law Library & Special Collections participating in a 3 month staff exchange with Hiroshima in 2008.
